River tried to contain her smile, wanting to stay serious to go with their little game, but she couldn't help beaming at him. A teeny part of ber was frustrated that he hadn't just scooped her up and whisked her off to the bed like it was a romance novel--yes, as a librarian she read those too, and she thought they were all in good fun--but she had enough sense to know that wasn't really reasonable. After all, they were just waiting around to be shuttled to their flights, they didn't have forever. Or...they did, but there were still more trials to make it through before they were on their way to happily ever after.
Never reveal his weakness, huh? Well, she really was going to find it. The problems were these: First, and foremost, he was very tall. If she wanted to get to his face, she was going to either have to drag him down to her level or get a step stool. Second, she was too shy for her own good. All the ideas she'd had and quashed were just way too bold for her to try on her own. She was willing to bet that Lainey or Val or one of the other braver girls would have just said what they wanted, or put their hands under his shirt or--Oh, her face was turning red. She bit her lip and looked down at her shoes. She was absurdly grateful that her hair fell to hide her face as she worked to rein herself in. Sloooooow down, River!
"You're quite right, of course," she answered slowly, still recovering. "But I still have a few tricks up my sleeve." She glanced up at him, and she could hear her heartbeat pounding. She could not believe she was about to say this. "After all, I did come prepared for a honeymoon." Oh my gosh she said it. She really told him that! She was gonna die. Her cheeks were so hot she felt like she might have a fever, and she couldn't look at his face. And yet...she really wanted to see his reaction... She peeped up at him through the sheer curtain of her hair, trying to make out his expression.

Penn lifted his brows in surprise and the tips of his ears started to turn a little pink but he also couldn’t help the dopey smile on his face. “Oh did you?” He asked with both curiosity and interest. “Well then, we’ll just have too see what sort of tricks you have to play.” He took a small half step away from her and with one hand grabbed at his jeans on his thigh and tugged down a bit, wiggling his hips to readjust his pants. He cleared his throat apologetically before stepping back up to her.
“Speaking of, we haven’t really talked about that. Perhaps now might be a good opportunity?” he asked hesitantly. “Like what is your experience with, well, that? And if you have big ‘nos’ or ‘yeses’...?” he was feeling a little bit odd talking about it this but he did think it was a valuable conversation.

Oh, that was definitely good. He was blushing too. Hah! Maybe she was better at this than she thought. She was feeling giddy and a little lightheaded, until he asked what her experience level was, and she grimaced. How did you even answer that?
"W-well, u-uhm..." She began, her hand already drifting to toy with her necklace as she continued to stare at her feet as if the answers were written down there or something. This wasn't the good kind of blushing anymore. Why was she so embarrassed? It wasn't like Penn was going to think badly of her either way. She knew better. But she still couldn't help it. She was twenty-five, she'd had plenty of time, and he'd had nine more years than her, and a fiance before, who was probably good at it and--No. She wasn't going to get caught up in that.
"I haven't actually...um...done that." She slid her pendant back and forth on the chain, and her other hand clenched a fistful of her skirt. "So I don't really know... I definitely don't like being called names, though." Her mouth twisted as if she'd tasted something foul. "I don't even want to repeat some of the things..." She shuddered. "But something tells me that won't be an issue."
She bit her lip and looked up at him. "What about you?"

Penn could easily see that this wasn't an easy topic and as much as he hated to make her uncomfortable or unhappy in any way, he did still think it was a good idea to talk about it rather than just jumping into bed together only to have it accidentally interrupted by him doing something to trigger her in some way without knowing what those triggers were.
He saw the way she clenched her skirt and moved to gently take that hand, his thumb rubbing reassuringly against the back of her hand.
He moved briefly to pull the two chairs on the balcony so they were next to each other. "Come here, come sit down." He said tenderly, if she did come and sit then the table with the cookies would be on her side of the chairs.
"Hey, there is nothing at all to be ashamed of or worried about, I promise." He told her. "I'm going to be your husband remember?" Wow, saying that out loud was crazy and amazing all at once. "I want us to be able to work through these kinds of things together. And while I know it's not the most comfortable topic, I want to make sure that when we do get to that point that I know what to do or not do so that it's a positive experience. I know you've been through a lot and I don't ever, ever want to do anything that will you hurt you. Mentally, physically, emotionally. I want to be the opposite of that for you." He explained.
"Okay, so just to clarify about the names, I can guess what you mean but just to be sure, are you talking pet names as well? Honey, sweetie, and all that?" He asked. "I just know someone who doesn't like pet names so I thought I'd make sure." He clarified his reason for asking.
"As for my own experience. There was Emma, that was years ago now and there has been no one since her. I think I told you, I thought I'd marry her. We hadn't gotten to a proposal yet but I had been starting to think of it when she-- well I told you all that before I'm pretty sure. Before Emma I had dated a couple of girls but neither for very long and we never got to that point. I'm not the guy for one-night-stands or things like that, I feel like being intimate with someone is something that should be cherished and not just tossed around." He told her.
"As far as likes and dislikes." His ears were reddening again and he rubbed the back of his neck. "I'll try just about anything once...unless the requests are particularly strange." he said with a bit of nervous chuckle. "As long as it's a conversation and both parties are consenting then I don't have strong dislikes. For likes...well, the thing that honestly will turn me on the most is being able to turn you on." He said, clearing his throat and swallowing. Phew, it was a challenge to talk about it like this, wasn't it? "I've never been a taker, if you don't get something out of it too then the deed isn't done."

Sitting in the chair, River immediately fell into a position that made her look like she was a small child in trouble: she tucked her feet under the chair with her clasped hands resting on her knees and her head bowed over them. She knew he was being sweet, but she just couldn't bring herself to raise her head. She wanted to just vanish into the floor.
But then he was being so gentle and kind she nearly got up from her chair and threw herself into his lap to cry again. But she really shouldn't cry every time he was nice to her, he was going to think he was the one making her cry. It was too late, though, her cheeks were already wet. She was going to give him emotional whiplash going from wanting to jump him to crying in the space of a minute, but she just loved him so much. She was so lucky to have found him, she couldn't even find the words to tell him so. He already was the opposite of Marcus, she wanted to yell, he didn't have to do anything extra.
She wiped her eyes with her hands and shook her head at the question about pet names. No, that wasn't part of the problem. Not at all. As he told her about Emma, she tried to slow her breathing the way her therapist had taught her, carefully timing her breaths. By the time he got into likes and dislikes, she was able to look up enough to see his face. And, honestly, his explanation of that completely blindsided her.
"Are you even real? Did I hit my head in the maze and this is all a dream?" she blurted, gaping at him as if he had just grown a second head. She blushed and reeled herself in a little, snapping her mouth closed and covering her now burning cheeks with both hands. "You're just...the best. I can't even wrap my head around it," she confessed, her voice a little muffled by the edges of her hands. She shook her head and sighed, dropping her hands to tuck them under her thighs so she couldn't hide her face while she answered him. She took a deep breath and looked right into his face, then gave her real answer.
"My ex, Marcus, he was always kind of rough with me. And if I reacted, voluntary or not, he'd call me a slut or something. I think he thought it was sexy but--" She shut her eyes and shook her head. "So no. Pet names are fine. And I think the 'My Queen' thing is cute...It's kind of what I always wanted. To be treasured." She smiled, although there was a little twinge of apology in it. "Is it bad if my answer about, um, turn-ons is about the same? It just makes me happy to know that..." She lost her nerve and blushed, not looking down, but just turning her gaze to the ocean since she couldn't keep eye contact. "To know that you actually want me. I don't think I have any special interests, other than that."

It made Penn said to see her curl up that way but he gave her a little space before acting. He believed in her, he believed in her strength, he also didn't think that there was anything about her that needed to be 'fixed' so his intention for her to feel better had nothing to do with fixing her. He just wanted to help her find her strength.
He was a little surprised by her outburst, but not in a bad way. He simply chuckled softly, feeling quite proud of himself in that moment to have impressed her. When she finished talking he smiled gently at her and reached his hand out to softly wipe away her tears with his thumb. He then leaned forward and tenderly kissed her cheek and the then corner of her lips before he whispered.
"Well, I most definitely want you, My Queen." he whispered in her ear. "Only you, forever."

River sighed and smiled as he kissed her cheek, and then almost her lips, instinctively turning towards him as she anticipated the kiss. She was surprised when he moved the opposite way to whisper in her ear once more, and she felt his words like a little shockwave under her skin. Yep, that was definitely her weakness. He could whisper just about anything in her ear and she'd think it was sexy, but the fact that he was sharing things like that only magnified it.
She pulled her hands from beneath her as she slid herself off of her chair and moved towards his. If he didn't sit up on his own, she'd lightly push his shoulder with one hand as she hooked the other around his neck. In one smooth movement, she slipped into his lap. She sat sideways, swinging her knees up over the little armrest on the side, and was heedless of the way it made her skirt ride up. She felt a little twinge of nerves as she did it, but he'd just finished telling her that anything was safe...and she couldn't help wanting to be closer to him. An ache in her chest told her she needed to be as close to him as possible at all times.
"Ask and you shall receive," she told him, kissing his cheek as she settled in.

Penn's lips curled up into a delighted smile as she moved to his lap. He welcomed her with open arms, one hand moved around her back and played with her hair and the other automatically fell to her lap. As his hand rested there he was reminded of how short her skirt was as felt the warmth of bare skin and he glanced down to find that sitting this way had rose the skirt a bit more on her thighs.
His breath hitched at the sight, not just of bare skin on a beautiful woman but of her skin, the woman he had fallen so madly in love with, his fiancee.
He smiled as she kissed his cheek and he returned his gaze to her pretty blue eyes. "Welcome, Your Majesty. I hope you find your stay enjoyable." He told her cheekily and leaned down to kiss her properly, his hand that had been playing with the ends of her hair, now moved to the base of her neck as he pulled her closer. He gently dragged his hands from her thigh to her knee and back again.

"Mmm, very much so," she answered against his lips before kissing him once more, her arms tightening slightly around his neck as she did. His hand on her thigh made the muscles there tense with a pleasant spark, and goosebumps rose across her skin. She had half a mind to change positions so she was straddling him, but she decided that was probably not her most responsibly plan. They had time.
"You know," she told him, moving away to trail kisses across his jaw, "It's a good thing we're getting married because it would take a whole army to separate the two of us." She giggled lightly as she kissed his neck and added, "A whole clone army."

He hummed pleasurably as she kissed along his jaw, tilting his head slightly to give her better access. Her lips felt amazing on his skin. He chuckled at her words. "Ya, I'm never gonna get tired of that." He said happily. He couldn't get enough of how accepting and even encouraging she was of his nerdy side. It made him feel like he could truly be himself and that not only would she put up with all his little quirks, but she might enjoy them.
His hand in her hair moved down her neck to her shoulder, his large palm squeezing her shoulder softly. "Even an entire clone army would not be able to separate me from you." He said with a grin.
His other hand continued to skim up and down her leg as they spoke until he paused and his fingertips traced along the hem of her skirt in an absent way, though he was far from being absent in that moment.

"Two clone armies? Some droids?" She teased, pressing her lips to the soft skin on the underside of his jaw, now that she could reach it, then a little lower on his throat. "General Grievous?
She tried to stay focused enough to say something vaguely witty, but his hand on her leg was getting more and more distracting. She watched his fingers trace along her skirt's hemline and gently turned that leg outward ever so slowly so that his movement trailed closer to the inside of her thigh. She exhaled with a little 'hmm', against his neck, surprised in spite of herself at the strength of the sensation.

"Not even Emperor Palpatine and-" he started to reply but his voice got caught in his throat as she started to turn her leg, causing his fingers to move with them and his gaze immediately fell to those beautiful legs of hers and how they looked in that perfect choice for a skirt.
"a hundred...star...destroyers..." He mumbled distractedly, finishing his sentence without even hearing himself speak it as his fingers started to draw little circles on the soft, sensitive skin of her inner thigh.

River pointed her toes, trying to expend the tension generated by his fingers without arching her back over the arm of the chair as she was tempted to do. She had to remind herself that the others weren't far, and their time at the moment was limited. She could be greedy another time. She felt just as distracted as he sounded, resting the curve of her nose against his jaw and letting her eyes fall shut as she reveled in his touch.
"Something the matter, Penn?" she asked, the smile clear in her voice. "Am I getting closer to that weakness?"

Penn didn’t respond right away. He heard her speak but it took a minute for his brain to comprehend the meaning of the words. “Hmm?” He said at first before the words finally clicked. When they did he grinned, peeking out at her from the corner of his eye.
“Maybe.” He told her, with a lift of his brow and a smirk. “Maybe not.” Honestly SHE was his weakness, anything coming from her made him weak at the knees. He kept his sideways glance on her as his fingers slid just a tiny bit higher up her thigh.

River laughed softly at his confusion, pulling back a little so she could see his expression. The little smirk he gave her went straight to her heart. Gosh, he was handsome. She'd liked him long before she could see him, but his face suited him, she thought. She pouted a little as he evaded her question, not really giving her an answer. She was determined to figure it out, but apparently it was going to be a little more of a challenge than the way he'd headed straight for hers as if she'd written him a map.
She met his gaze for just a moment before his hand started to trail higher up her leg, and her gaze flickered down to it. She let her legs fall just a little farther apart and flicked her attention back to his face, raising her eyebrows. "Well I suppose I did say I'd be powerless once you found mine," she answered slowly, trying not to look back down. "And here I am, at your mercy."

Penn swallowed as she moved her legs again and let out a slow exhale. Was he a little surprised she was doing this? Yes, a bit. though it made him feel good that she trusted him with her body. Was he complaining? Not even a little bit.
He turned his head then to fully look at her, taking her all in. She was so beautiful. He was so lucky. He thought about stopping but he really didn’t want to. Not yet. So he kept going, trailing his fingers in soft swirling patterns, inching higher and higher up her thigh, until he reached only a few centimeters from the edge of her panties, his heart pounding heavily in his chest.

River's challenging expression faded quickly as he took the opportunity she offered and swirled his fingertips higher and higher. She bit her lip and her breath hitched as he got closer to the edge of her underwear. Somewhere in the back of her mind, she thanked her lucky stars she'd chosen some cute lavender ones this morning, although her bra was disappointingly plain. She wondered what Penn was wearing, briefly, and had to wiggle her toes again to keep herself from groaning. That was dangerous territory to be thinking about.
"Penn...?" she murmured, blushing at how out of breath she sounded. "You...you'd let me know if I was being too much, right? I'm not used to actually wanting this kind of thing." She laughed, once. "A lot. Wanting it a lot."

Given that she was currently sitting on his lap she may soon be able to tell exactly how much she was turning him on right now. He watched her carefully, the way she bit her lip was so sexy but he definitely didn't want to rush either. Regardless of the way he was physically responding to her, he refused to let his 'animal instincts' completely take over.
"Well for one, I can't imagine you ever being too much. But yes, if you were then I would tell you." he assured her with a breathless tone. "Please promise that you'll tell me too, tell me if you want me to stop or slow down. Please promise me?" He asked her. "Because I really want it too, but I-" he swallowed. "I don't want to push you or go too fast and I don't how long we might have and-" He shut himself up and leaned down to kiss her lips.

River nodded when he asked her to promise and was opening her mouth to do so, but she was just as content with the kiss instead. She genuinely appreciated that he was being cautious with her, knowing her history, but she could pretty much guarantee he had nothing to worry about. She was quickly learning that it was entirely against his nature to do anything that would truly bother her, and even if he did, she felt fairly confident that she'd be able to tell him.
She returned the kiss with a hint of desperation, tangling one of her hands in his hair. "I promise. I want this."

Penn smiled softly at her promise and he nodded his head briefly. He didn’t care that they were sitting on a balcony in a suite full of other people or that they would soon be getting on a plane to head...somewhere. In this moment it was only the two of them and that is what made it perfect.
He brought his lips to hers again and just as his hand grazed the hem of her panties he heard the flutter of wings near his head and the movement of air as a bird flew in under the balcony. He immediately cringed rather violently and curled in around River, his hands wrapped around her back.
He stayed that way for only a moment when he heard that horrible fluttering wing noise again and he let out a surprised yelp and scooped her up off the chair with him. He set her down, heard the wings again, and yelled in distress before he crouched down at least a full foot, covering his head with one hand while blindly trying to grab River and tug her back toward the door.
“Nope nope nope.” He said, hurrying awkwardly towards the door. “Where is it? Where is it?!” He said, looking around wildly and then there was the cooing of a dove from the rafters and he shrieked.
