PERSONALITY
Dislikes: Spicy foods, cooking, contact sports, birds, stories of betrayal or unfaithfulness.
General personality: Penn was a shy, introverted child. He loved learning and was a quick study. He liked to get lost in reading or challenging tasks like coding or engineering in order to escape from his world. He had a few close friends in school and they were mostly into video games and DnD. He had a few crushes in middle school and high school but nothing ever came of those.
As he moved away from Montana he became a bit more confident. When he is in his own environment, like at work, he can actually be quite commanding and outspoken. He has led several teams and been in charge of many projects. Outside of work he still struggles a little bit, often being more on the shy side and unsure of himself. He likes knowing what he's talking about, so when he has conversations about things he knows very little he can be a little insecure.
He likes to make others feel good and to make people happy but in a work setting that is not as important as productivity.

HISTORY
Family Members: Living parents, one older brother (married with 2 kids) and one younger sister (married with 1 kid).
General History: Hugh, or Penn as most people call him, grew up in a small rural town in Montana. His dad worked hard to provide for the family while his mom stayed at home with the kids. Financially they struggled and Penn has several memories of going to bed with a grumbling stomach. Things were hard but they managed to find some happiness through the struggle. There were plenty of dark days as well.
More than once their mom would disappear for several days, even up to weeks at a time and they wouldn't know where she was. At those times they had a Grandparent or Aunt come and watch them while their dad was at work. Yet she always returned.
When their grandfather died, their dad inherited his farm and things were a bit easier from that point on. However, Penn always longed for a better life than the one he grew up in. After graduating from high school he applied for college out of state and ended up in California. He stayed in the state while he worked on his Masters degree, working odd jobs here and there, and moved to San Diego for a job as soon as he had his degree. He has been working for a well known tech company ever since.

ROMANCE
What brought you to this experience? After losing the woman I loved to another man, I finally feel ready to give love another chance and to see if I can open up in a new way, perhaps allowing me to fall in love with someone who will love me for me.
What are you most looking for in a spouse? I hope to find a woman who can be loyal, who can trust me, and who can have the strength to stick by me when things get hard. I would love a woman who is her own individual and doesn't rely on me for every little thing, but whose individuality strengthens our relationship rather than putting a barrier between us.
What are your relationship pet peeves? A woman who is not her own person, is too clingy, but also one who has no time for me and would rather consistently spend the evening with her girlfriends than with me.
Romantic History: A bit too introverted and nerdy in school, Penn had a few crushes but no girlfriends in high school. He did manage to go to some school dances but usually with friends and not with romantic dates. Once in college he was able to come out of his shell a little bit and dated occasionally but didn't find anything worth holding onto until after he had finished with his bachelors degree.
He met a girl named Emma and the two hit it off quickly. Penn was head over heels in love with her. He thought she was as well. However, as he got lost in his studies in order to get his higher degree he had less time for his personal life and he didn't see how much things were falling through the cracks. The next thing that he knew, Emma had fallen for someone else. She broke up with him and within a year had married the other man. He was devastatingly heartbroken.
Since then he has struggled to get to close to women, fearing that he just won't be good enough to keep their attention.
