Parker had thought long and hard about what surprise he'd leave Cleo. After seeing how the other guys planned, he was rather intoxicated most of the night. Most of the things he had asked production for were simply too hard to procure in just a few short hours. He looked at his notes and that's where he found it.
There was a spread of Chinese food waiting for Cleo, chow mein, fried rice, egg rolls, an of course orange chicken, still in their take out containers. "I'm not the most extravagant or romantic, but I hope that satisfies your craving from yesterday and you like it," Parker said hopefully from his side of the wall.

In Parker's pod he'd find two extra blankets as well as a navy blue scarf. There was also a postcard with a picture of the cherry blossom festival in Japan and a scrawled note that said 'Maybe I'll meet you there sometime'.
As Cleo entered the pod she could immediately smell the food and took a deep inhale. "No way!" She said happily. "Oh my stomach is growling already, thank you Parker! That was so thoughtful!" She said.
"I remembered how cold you were last time so made sure you had some extra things to keep you warm in hopes no one would steal your blanket this time. "

"I smiled so hard when I saw the blankets. I'm happy to report that all blankets and scarves are accounted for and I'm currently wrapping myself up to be all warm and fuzzy. I'd be warmer and feel fuzzier if you were over here though," Parker said sweetly. "I guess we should be thanking whoever asked you that question yesterday." he added with a laugh, "I'm writing that down in case I ever have an icebreaker with someone ever again. Something tells me it would be a hit or miss in sponsor meetings."
"I'm glad you're hungry, I saw Blake in the kitchen cooking up a storm this morning and a couple of the other guys also putting in food orders. I'm a simple man, take out works as well as a lobster dinner as far as I'm concerned. Is Chinese food your favorite cuisine?"

Cleo giggled softly at his comment about her being there. "Well now I'm blushing." She said. "Funny I have to inform you of that since you can't see me." She said with a little laugh.
"Oh gosh, I don't know I could pick a favorite! My mood greatly varies. I love Chinese, Italian, Thai, sushi, good mexican, tex mex, classic american with pizza and burgers, even Indian on occasion. If I had to pick my top favorite..." She hummed as she considered the question. "Probably chinese, pasta, and sushi." She said finally.
"I know you love Pad Thai, especially from your mom. Any other faves?" She asked him, followed by the crunch of an egg roll.

"I feel like I'm in one of those old timey plays, like when all of those Shakespeare characters announce "and thus I die!" except we're blushing and not dying," Parker said with a laugh, dramatically impersonating a stage actor.
"I'm down to eat whatever the local flavor is, because I like trying new things and weird thing. I've had chicken feet, scorpions, escargot, whatever. My actual favorite thing is dessert. I have a super sweet tooth and it's my mission in life to try every dessert in the word. Does ice cream count as a food group? Also I'll eat anything with peanut butter but I won't eat it with a spoon." Parker said. "By the way, blue is my favorite color, you chose well."

Cleo laughed at his impersonation! "It's so true though!" She said through her laughter.
She made a little squeak noise as he explained all the weird things he's eaten. "Oh you're much braver than I am! I have had escargot before and liked it fine when I cut up but once I tried to eat it all in one bite I just couldn't get over the idea of what I was actually eating. It was too much." She said with a chuckle and the sound of a shudder.
"Oooo dessert! That I can get behind, I'll happily traipse around the world with you trying desserts." She said with a smile in her voice. "Is ice cream your favorite dessert then?" She asked.
"Is it really blue?! Well that's awesome! Go me!" She said with a little giggle. "Mine is also blue actually! Particularly a baby blue...or a turquoise-y blue...or...just all the blues I guess."

Parker laughed along with her "Yep, it's blue! I like anything that's a really bright color, but blue is what the sky looks like, and I don't just mean sky blue. The sky can be so many shades of blue from early morning periwinkle to navy blue at night. I've always been really fascinated with it so I added really big windows to my house."
"So my first year of college, I ate ice cream for breakfast almost every day. It was usually coffee flavored and then my roommate introduced me to the concept of an affogato so that became a thing. I think I just really like cold desserts, so shaved ice or popsicles count too. I'm a total sucker for weird ice cream."
"Ok, super important question: what does your ideal ice cream dish look like?" Parker asked.

“It’s true, the sky has the best colors! It’s pretty remarkable actually!” She said.
“Ooo, what’s an affogato?! That sounds fancy!” She exclaimed. “Coffee...ice...cream.” She said with the sound of pen on paper and then laughed softly. “Got it.
“Okay, so much favorite way to way to eat ice cream, especially at home, is to get chocolate ice cream. I’m fairly picky about chocolate ice cream, I definitely have my favorites but most anything can do in a pinch. Right now I’m obsessed with Breyers chocolate truffle. It has these super tasty chocolate truffle bits in it. And then I top it off by sprinkling on some malt Ovaltine powder. It might sound weird but I’m obsessed! I’m also really into chocolate malt milkshakes right now.”

"Ok so I'm going to like blow your mind the way my roommate blew mine, because the discovery of affogato is life changing!" Parker said enthusiastically. He cleared his throat, "Affogato." he started in his most professor like tone. "Affogato is an italian coffee desert, made with ice cream and a shot of espresso poured over it. Traditionally this was made with vanilla gelato but were in America and great gelato is hard to find and we're creative here. There is also an option of amaretto or liquor being added, which I admit was much experimented with in college. Other acceptable garnishes include honeycomb or cherries."
"And now you have been enlightened to one of the best things ever invented," Parker said, breaking into a laugh. "But also your malt chocolate thing sounds way easier to make. Cleaning an espresso machine was such hard work and my roommate and I would literally use it as stakes for friday night poker. I totally hear you on the chocolate ice cream. It has to taste like actual chocolate and not chocolate flavoring! There's totally a difference!"

Cleo moaned at the sound of the dessert being described. "Ho. Ly. Crap! That sounds so amazing!!! I'm definitely going to need to try this!" She told him. "I also liked your very scholarly way to describe it." She said with a little giggle. "Very professional, you'd make a hot professor." She made a sexy purring noise and then laughed.
"Okay, so I know you like to eat, especially desserts, and you made your own affogato. So do you like to cook?" She asked him.

"What can I say? I'm supposedly a professional in many things that people consider entertaining but useless information. I for one think that knowing how to make an affogato is crucial to survival but that's just me." Parker proudly said, "I think that's why I do what I do, I love to entertain and educate. If I was a professor my class would be super fun, not some boring lecture hall."
"I like to think I can cook enough to survive, but that's about it. The microwave is my friend but my real best friend is the local street vendor or some authentic mom and pop," Parker chuckled. "I think I can grill edible dinner for myself but if you hope to come home to a home cooked meal, I'll probably disappoint you. I do think I make tasty omelets, they're just not very pretty. As much as I love desserts, I'm a lost cause when it comes to baking anything without a box, though I can make some cookies with pre packaged dough really well"
"What about you? Do you have some sexy cooking skills?"

"Well it certainly sounds like a class I would enjoy, and probably any other student who would take your class." She said with a a chuckle.
She continued to chuckle as he explained his cooking skills, or lack thereof. "Well don't worry, my husband being able to cook is not a requirement for me. I think that everyone has their own skills and passions to bring to the table and a good marriage works with what it has and real love should mean accepting those strengths as weaknesses. As long as it's not something like drugs or cheating or abuse or something." She added at the end. "You can make affogato and that is clearly the most important anyway." She said with a lively chuckle.
"Well I'm far from being a professional or anything but I do like to cook yes. I like to try new recipes but I'm not as good as just making stuff, I have to follow the recipe to a 'T' and it usually takes me twice as long as whatever the estimate is on the recipe." She said with a laugh. "There is a special kind of joy in creating something delicious to share with people you love."

" I feel like I would upset my mother if I had affogato for every meal, that's why I learned the basics," Parker said, still proud of his affogato skills. "My parents didn't really cook anything fancy when I was growing up. They were busy so there was a lot of premade things, ordering in, simple crock pot stuff."
"And hey if you're having fun cooking, that's the main reason to do it." Parker said. "My favorite thing to do with someone is to learn new stuff with them. There's just something about jumping into the unknown with someone. Sometimes the unknown is a country where neither of you speak the language, but sometimes it's trying a new recipe. I'd really like to learn something new with you, maybe try some recipes. It's even ok if we totally screw up, because it'll be fun. I do have to warn you though, I'm not exactly the best at following directions. I call it improv skills."

"Improv skills. That's clever." She said with a giggle. "I love to learn new things! I think it would be super fun to regularly try new things with my husband, so share our own talents and passions as well as doing things that are new for both of us." She said.
"Though I have to admit that I am not the most daring person. I don't love the idea of trying crazy foods or doing something that requires a lot of bravery or is too risky. But if someone wanted to teach me painting or gardening or coding then I'd be all in for that sort of thing." She said a little shyly.

Parker laughed, "Well if you're into trying new things, it sounds like you might be ready for the "Parked in Paradise" lifestyle, because every day is some kind of new adventure" He said in his version of an infomercial voice. "Or at least that's what I said when I installed a slide alongside my staircase. I'm a firm believer that you have to start a day with a good time."
"Don't worry I can eat double the scorpions, I promise not everything I do is super crazy. I spend a lot of time reading actually, creating content about old buildings takes a lot of research. I keep thinking maybe I should actually put a garden in my backyard, for all the stuff I can't find in grocery stores."
"If you could near a new thing today, what would it be?"

“You have a slide INSIDE your house?!” She asked delighted. “Ok, that’s officially the coolest thing I’ve ever heard!”
“Oh that’s a good question. Hmmm. Oh, I’d love to learn how to do digital art. I mostly just doddle but I’ve seen some amazing things created digitally. I’d love to learn how.”

Parker laughed at her delight, "Yeah that was the first thing I added, it runs along the spiral staircase. I really wanted to feel like I was living in a funhouse. Pretty much I bought this house and then gutted it and redid most of the inside. After all, I used to be an architect, actually when I did most of that I still was an architect. There's also a hot tub in the living room which was a great idea until I came home drunk one night and fell into it and I've been afraid to uncover it since" Parker admitted.
"Let's see... my so called "office" is a hammock, I love old fashioned clawfoot bathtubs, and my guest bedroom has a hidden door behind a bookcase because I always loved seeing those in mystery movies and that used to be my office. Also I just love showing guests to their room and a bookcase just swings out" he listed. "Digital drawing is super cool! I can sketch houses and furniture stuff all day but people who draw like cartoon characters and stuff, it just blows my mind."

Cleo was speechless for a moment and then she let out a little pleasured squeal. ”Are...you...serious, Parker?! That is the most incredible house I’ve ever heard of! What a fun place to live!! Seriously, regardless of how this turns out, you’re going to absolutely have to show it to me! she exclaimed excitedly. “My goodness! You are just too cool. she said a little wistfully.
“Wow, well now I’m far too distracted to even think of a question now.” she said and paused for a moment with a little chuckle. “Oh okay. So I’m curious about much time you spend traveling. What percentage of the year are you traveling versus being in your incredible house?”

"It's a work in progress, I guess I just want a spot where my friends can come visit and have a great time" Parker said, "I haven't done a single thing with the backyard yet because I can't decide what to do with it. There's a deck already that came with the house. I thought about adding a pool but that's also a lot of work. A trampoline would be easier. The only solid idea is that I need some form of fire pit back there because I love s'mores," he said dreamily. "What would your dream backyard look like? If I learned anything from architecture school, it's that you can tell a lot about a person with what their dream bathrooms, yards, and kitchens look like."
"I think it's about 50/50 right now with the house and on the road," Parker answered, "I've only been blogging full time for a couple years so it's just whatever works. I guess that makes it a really great time to introduce more big changes like a wife and stuff. I need the right lady to help give me some direction."
