River was too nervous to spend much time talking in the big group--she didn't think she could handle hearing anyone talk about the guys she was interested in, because then she'd talk herself out of pursuing them. Lainey had already made it clear the first day who she was most interested, though, and she seemed sweet, so River had decided that she might be safe to talk to. After the girls had chatted a bit in the common room, she tapped Lainey Yurkovich on the shoulder and offered her a pack of M&Ms she'd grabbed out of the pantry. "Do you have some time to snack and chat? I feel like I need to talk to somebody to clear my head, and I know you're all about Dean, so I thought you might not mind...Um, if you don't want to, that's fine! I totally get it..."

Lainey had relaxed quite a bit once she realized no one was going after Dean, and had instead relaxed and just listened to the other girls. When she felt the tap on her shoulder, she looked to see River and smiled at her. "Heck yeah girl, do you want to talk in my room?" She asked. She looked around at the other convo's taking place. "Might be quieter." She said grinning as she took the M&M's and stood up from the couch.
She would lead River to her room, then, holding the door open for her, and then would close it behind her so they could have their privacy. She then went and flopped onto the bed, crawling to the head of it, she grabbed a pillow and put it on her lap and opened the pack of M&M's. "Alright, so you who are you crazy about, that you're worried about the others also liking?" She asked curiously. Sensing that River really needed to vent.

River nodded enthusiastically at Lainey's suggestion to move to her room. She followed her, quietly munching on her own bag of peanut M&Ms. While Lainey flopped comfortably on the bed, River hesitated a minute, then perched on the edge of the bed. When Lainey asked her who she was thinking about that she didn't want to mention in front of the other girls, she gasped.
"How did you know? Was it that obvious?" she squeaked, putting her hands over her face to cover her now tomato red cheeks. I wasn't feeling sure about it until today, but I don't want to cause any trouble, either..." she sighed. "I thought I really liked Parker, but it doesn't feel like he's serious about anything... especially not me. I don't know how else to explain. And Percy is absolutely precious but he and his family are so showy I think I'd die."
She peeked out at Lainey through her fingers. "So that only leaves Penn, and I know Shaan really really likes him. So I guess I just...I don't know what to do. This is all so fast I feel like there's no way I can even know already, so I shouldn't be so scared, but I can't help it."

Lainey laughed as she put a blue M&M in her mouth. "Because it was made clear I was ga-ga for Dean and no one else." She laughed. She then listened to River, automatically liking the other girl as she covered her face. She was pretty cute.
She couldn't help but laugh more as she ate another piece of the chocolate candy. She had to agree with her on Parker, however she felt Percy was way more down to earth and not as showy as River believed. "Oooooooooo Penn?!" She exclaimed sitting up a little higher and wiggling. "Yeah I see what you mean, but Shaan also really likes Trout, and I think she mentioned something about Blake too." She told her.
"I thought it was fast too, but when you know, you know. Like with Dean, I don't know what it was but I was just drawn to him. Got butterflies and everything, he makes my heart do that fast beating thing, and I literally could not sleep the first night because....Dean." She laughed. "I was skeptical too, but boy. When it hit's, it hits." She said popping another candy in her mouth. She chewed thoughtfully. "I think being scared might be a good thing? Because then it means you really do like him. I must confess to you too, If Dean wasn't here, Trout would be my number one, and Penn was tied with Alex for two and three." She confessed to her. She reached over and squeezed River's knee. "But you got nothing to worry about girl." She said with a smile. "Just be you, and Penn will see how awesome you are, and BOOM, fireworks." She said with a grin.

River groaned and flopped her torso backward onto the bed, letting her hands fall away from her face and onto the bed on either side of her head. Lainey's friendly nature put her at ease, and she didn't even realize she'd relaxed so much after getting things off her chest.
"Do you think so? I've been trying to be honest the whole time, and I feel like we're really getting along, but...there's no way to know, is there? I can't read his mind. Still...he's just so sweet. And he actually likes listening to me gush about books, he doesn't think it's dumb. And he's good with kids, and he decorated the room for me today..." She ran her hands down her face and sighed. "I reeeeeeeeeally like this guy, Lainey."
She turned to look at the other girl, suddenly thoughtful. "What made you so sure about Dean? Did you just have a gut feeling?"

Lainey nodded her head at River, putting several more M&M's in her mouth before grabbing her stuffed Dug that Dean had given her and hugged it in her lap. She smiled as River gushed about Penn, point out some things she had liked about him as well, but it was obvious River knew more about him with some things than her. The two must of really hit it off.
She laughed when her hands ran down her face, and Lainey turned and flopped beside her so their heads were next to each other. She put a hand under her head and hugged Dug to her side. "Dean gave me the butterflies as soon as I heard his sexy voice and the first words came out of his mouth." She laughed. "I asked him what his favorite color was. It's yellow." She said. "We have a lot in common, he's a fitness trainer and I'm a fitness junkie when I'm not working, and I just..." She sighed wistfully. "We talked about some really serious stuff today. Like my dad for one, and his mom, and I managed to tell him about my ex that passed away two years ago..." She could feel the tears beginning to rise at the thought about Jude. "I thought he had been the one. But I'm ready to move on, and Dean is just...He's different. I feel different with him than I did with Jude, I would say it's fate, but I dunno. I just feel it in my gut he's the one. He's understanding, and he said he was there and he would listen. I didn't even tell him about my other ex Andy. Which is just- Iiiiiick." She made a bleh noise. She turned her head too look at River, and showed her the stuffed Dug from Up. "He got me my own Dug because I was missing mine." She practically awed. "He's just so....perfect." Lainey sighed.

River giggled at the end of Lainey's gushing. She was definitely sure of herself, which was sweet to see. She just wished she could feel the same way.
"Sounds like a match made in heaven to me! I'm glad you two were able to find each other right away. Dean's definitely a good person, I got that feeling right away during our date. He and I didn't click, but he seems like someone worth knowing. It makes me really happy to know that he's making you so happy."
"I dunno, maybe I'm making excuses because I feel like I have to know right away who is 'the one.' I still said yes to all three dates for the morning, so I guess I'll just have to see what happens. I just wish I could know for sure if I'm messing things up." She sighed. "Thanks for listening to me, by the way. I usually talk to my dad, or to my cat, when stuff is bothering me. Then I can work it out, out loud. Not having either of them around is a bit more difficult than I thought...but I guess it helped me make a friend, huh?"
