You arrived yesterday and met all of your suite mates. Today is your first day of dates! This morning your phones were all taken from you and will be returned either when you go home or at the start of stage 3! No social media, no contact with the outside world, just a chance for you to focus on your connections with other people here. (You were told this would be the case when you first signed up to be a participant)
The first round of dates will be relatively quick. You'll get a chance to meet all the ladies/gents. The first dates will last about 10-20 minutes (IC) and the purpose is a short little getting to know you.
Here are some topics you might consider talking about (though it's TOTALLY up to you):
General lifestyle (partier/works a lot/spends most time at home alone)

Hopes for this event/what you're looking for in a spouse

Cleo laughed, a sweet girlish sound. "How do you know I have a beautiful smile?" She asked a bit coyly. "I'm sorry you're chilly. Do you have a blanket? There is one in my side." She thought about the answer to his question, enjoying that he got right to it.
"I would have...some chinese food. Chow mein, fried rice, egg rolls, and...orange chicken." She huffed thoughtfully. "Well now I'm hungry." She said with a little chuckle. "I'm Cleo by the way." She said to the mysterious man behind the wall.
"If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life what would it be?"

Parker smiled at her response, "Well now I know for sure, because real smiles are beautiful and I succeeded in making you laugh, so you're smiling. I'm smiling too."
"Nope, no blankets here, I guess the previous guy must've taken it with him or something. The other pod had one. I'm Parker, nice to meet you Cleo. I have to admit, you're making me hungry. I love Chinese food."
Parker had to think for a moment and he thought out loud "See that question should be banned because how can any man pick just one food? I'll have to land on pad Thai, extra spicy and specifically my mom's pad Thai."

"Ugh, how rude." Cleo replied playfully when he said someone must have taken the blanket from his pod. "Mmmm, me too." She said in response to chinese food.
"It's true, it's not a fair question at all. But I love pad Thai and spicy food! Yummm." She cleared her throat.
"Okay okay, we have to change the subject or I'll be starving by the time we're done." She said with a little laugh. "So you mentioned your mom's cooking, what is your family like? Siblings and all those related questions." The sound of fabric on fabric could be heard as she tucked her legs under her on the couch.

"Good plan! I'm pretty normal I guess. I have parents, they're both doctors. I have a little sister, she's studying to be a doctor, and I'm the odd one out. I went to school for architecture but I'm not an architect anymore. We're pretty close, they live in Los Angles so I go visit my parents a lot, especially when I'm hungry." Parker said, he had a hint of a natural growl to his voice, but was generally pretty peppy sounding.

"Oh wow, that must be intimidating." She said, commenting on his family full of doctors. "I also have parents." She said with a little laugh. "My dad and step-mom. I actually don't know much about my birth mom, my dad never talks about her. But I love Julie like my mom. And two step siblings, Miles and Maggie. I grew up in Sacramento and moved here to go to school." She explained.
"So if you aren't an architect anymore, what do you do?" She asked.

"It kinda is sometimes, like at reunions or when their doctor friends are over, but my parents came to America so their kids could have the opportunity to do whatever they want. So they're super supportive of what I want to do. I mean it was kinda a shock to them when I quit my job at a top firm to be a travel blogger, but they got over it pretty quickly." Parker said. "I went to Cornell, so I'm super glad to be back on the west coast for a little bit. I don't really stay in one place for very long."

“Well that’s really great that they’re supportive at least, it’s be so hard if you had to fight for what you want against your family. But a travel blogger, that sounds really cool! It makes sense then to not stay in one place for long. So where are your parents originally from then?” She asked.
“I love sunny spring days the most, when the air is warm but not too hot yet, just a hint of coolness in the breeze. Like on Miss Congeniality, all you need is a light jacket.” She said with a laugh. “You?”

"You're the second girl to use that quote on me today and I haven't seen it!" Parker exclaimed, "I guess I need to watch it for research or something, I misquoted it to be a Mean Girls quote this morning" he said with a laugh. "My parents are from Taiwan, and then moved to California because they're doctors and wanted their kids to grow up in America."
"I refuse to choose a favorite place i've been because I like being in the present and I've been to enough places to realize that it's less about where you are geographically and more about the people you're with and the memories you make. Therefore, I refuse to believe I've been to my favorite place yet because I think there's someone else I need to meet first. Shit I didn't mean for that to be so sappy sounding!" Parker said with a chuckle.

"Am I really?" Cleo asked with a little chuckle. "Well, I guess you can cross 'original' off my list of qualities." She said with a bit of a nervous chuckle.
"No, it's not sappy. I love that. I think it sounds...wonderful. Honestly it's comforting to know that the people here are genuine, they actually want to find love and something lasting. That maybe they aren't here just to be on TV. At least I hope that's the case and it's not my gullibility or overly trusting side showing." She said.
"So you're looking for someone to travel with you then?" She asked curiously.

"I just keep wondering if like that movie was just really good and I missed out or something," Parker confessed, "I mean yeah that's what makes sense I guess, but I don't want someone to feel obligated to spend their life on the road chasing sunrises with me, she has to actually want to do that stuff. I just want someone that won't judge me or use me for free vacations. Like that person would want to be constantly learning about the world and always down for the next adventure."

“And what’s wrong with being a hopeless romantic?” Cleo said kindly. “I say own who you are, express your dreams, be hopelessly honest and don’t judge yourself for how you think that might sound to others.” She expressed.
“Also I’d guess they aren’t exactly ‘free’ vacations... or are they? I guess I don’t really know how being a travel blogger works. Do you go on the trip and then sell your work after or do people pay you to take the trip so you can blog about it? Sorry, I’m actually pretty naive on this subject.”

"Because I'm not one, I'm actually not great at romance or wooing people, that's what's wrong with me," Parker said, with a sorry attempt at laughing it off. "I just know what I want I guess, which is not knowing what the future is exactly besides experiencing as much of the world as possible."
"And don't be sorry, it's a weird job. Sometimes I get traded trips or sometime the money is coming from views on my blog or something, sometimes I'm commissioned. It's a pretty mixed bag," Parker explained. Then he stopped. "Ok so I hate talking about this stuff when I first meet someone because I think I sound like a total asshole, but if I met the right person, money isn't really something I worry about, so it is potentially free vacation included if that's what she wants."

“Okay that make sense. And I think what you were saying is a valid concern. I don’t think it’s all that dissimilar to exactly what this experiment is in some ways. People can get lost in the beauty, or lack therefore, in a person and judge prematurely or date them only for their looks. You don’t want someone to date you for free vacations. A prince fears finding someone who will love them for more than his title.” She explained. “All I’m trying to say is that you have every right to feel worried and you’re not alone. Hopefully this experiment allows people to go deeper than surface level attraction?”

"Aww really? Well I'm honored to be able to talk to you about it. You seem really genuine. You know what you want and what your concerns are, that's really great. " She said warmly.
She took a breath. "Alright, so me, let's see." She paused briefly. "I've been a bit...afraid to put myself out there in the last couple of years, to be honest. I went on a bunch of dates in high school but when I was senior I started dating a guy steadily. We were actually together for a few years but he was really controlling, eventually that turned into mental and verbal abuse but I still stayed. I thought I loved him too much and wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt I guess. I left the day he finally hit me." Her voice shook a bit. "It's been hard to start over."

"Wow, that sounds really rough. I'm sorry you had to go through that. I think you're the bravest girl I've met here so far. Like you're here and you're starting over with this totally crazy experiment," Parker said, genuinely impressed. "and you knew when to get out of that situation and did it. My little sister dated a guy like that once, it lasted about 4 weeks but when I found out that he kept telling her to cover up and always kept "checking on her" and other stuff, I made sure he never spoke to her again. It was her first boyfriend so I don't think she realized what was happening."

"That's terrible about your sister, I'm glad she had someone like you to stand up for her. Way to go for getting into her business when she didn't see the signs." She told him.

"Oh god, if you tell me you're blushing, I might blush too!" Parker said with a laugh, "Yeah I don't let anyone mess with my baby sister, even if she annoys the crap out of me sometimes." Parker paused, "Oh ummm last words, wow feeling some pressure here" he said with a small laugh, "I think you're super brave and I really admire that and I hope I can talk to you again. I'm totally smiling right now, and may or may not be blushing but I won't tell you."
