You arrived yesterday and met all of your suite mates. Today is your first day of dates! This morning your phones were all taken from you and will be returned either when you go home or at the start of stage 3! No social media, no contact with the outside world, just a chance for you to focus on your connections with other people here. (You were told this would be the case when you first signed up to be a participant)
The first round of dates will be relatively quick. You'll get a chance to meet all the ladies/gents. The first dates will last about 10-20 minutes (IC) and the purpose is a short little getting to know you.
Here are some topics you might consider talking about (though it's TOTALLY up to you): General lifestyle (partier/works a lot/spends most time at home alone) Occupation Hopes for this event/what you're looking for in a spouse Hobbies/Passions
RULES - Remember to keep physical descriptions out of your conversations. - Each person gets only 10 posts in this thread! - Posts are limited to 150 words! The idea is to give your characters a little taste but leave them wanting MORE!
Will you start to make a connection today? Let's find out!
This date is for Gemini Matteson & Trout Latimer!
You enter the pods, one person on each side in a soundproofed room. This allows you to feel totally secluded and private from the other participants who may be near you. This is your chance to get a feel for the women/men who are here and who you might be interested in continuing to get to know!

“God, this is awkward.” Gemini whispered it, then cleared her throat and spoke louder. “Hello. I’m Gem. A pleasure meeting you..except not meeting you...officially.”

Trout laughed a bit at her remark about it being awkward, but turned it into a cough. "Hi, Gem. I like the name. I'm Trout." He hesitated, then asked, "Do you play video games at all?"

"Trout? Cool. Actually, I do. One of my brothers got my a computer just so he could put League of Legends on it so I would join him and his friends. I dally in some others, but I don't do any of it seriously. I prefer to read. Are you a gamer?"

Yeah I am, maybe more than I should be. I also work in web development, so basically all my time is screen time. It's what I love to do."

“You’re doing what makes you happy, and it isn’t hurting anyone. It doesn’t sound like a problem to me. What do you hope to accomplish with the time you dedicate to playing and designing?”

"Well, I've taught myself a few different computer languages just by doing it in my off time, so that stuff really does add up to an 'achievement,' I guess you'd say. As for gaming, for me it's more about giving my brain time to relax. Although, I do like playing team games, which gives me a chance to hang out with my friends even when we can't get together in person. We're pretty crazy when we get in a group, but it's nice to have a community, ya know? They're like a family. Anyway, you'd hardly know we like each other by how we're ribbing on each other the whole time. He chuckled. "What about you, Gem? You said you like to read, right? Do you have like, a favorite kind of books?"

Gem hummed understanding when Trout asked if she knew.
"I've a weak spot for mysteries, though there isn't a genre I'm unwilling to pick up. I quite enjoy autobiographies, if only to find camaraderie in twisted upbringings." She chuckled into her words. "I'm more of a loner, though, so all your talk of friends and groups is enticing. What made you participate in this experiment? Surely you could have found a gamer girl?"

Trout laughed, although it sounded a little bitter.
"You'd think so, wouldn't you? But nah, I think the gamer girls are just as terrified of dating as the gamer guys. The ones who do find each other either do it by chance or are willing to spend waaaaay more time on dating apps than I can handle." He chuckled. "But I get you about being a loner. I was til college, when Travis latched onto me like a lovable beartrap. He chomped down on my ankle and dragged me into a group to play Dungeons and Dragons. So, I guess I should say I'm not only about the screen, I like in person games too. Maybe you'd like that better than a video game? It's a freeform thing, so you get to make your own story. Which could totally be a mystery, come to think of it."

"So I should hope for a Travis." Gemini said, smile in her tone. "Maybe I'll try something like that after all this. I definitely will if I come out empty-handed."

"It's definitely worth the try. But, you don't necessarily have to wait for your own beartrap friend. You're clearly a smart person, hell, I'd play D&D with you, so I think you could easily join a game at your local comic store, or online, or whatever. Or, a book club, maybe, since you like reading? I dunno, now I sound pushy. He laughed a little nervously.
"Sorry, you just sounded kinda disappointed about it. But anyway, uh, tell me more about you instead? I've been rambling too much, probably."

“You are being pushy.” Gemini said in agreement. “But I’m the kind of girl who appreciates it. I get stuck in my head space and fear change and...I need someone to encourage me to not settle. To do more. So, no matter what comes of this, let’s play DnD when it’s all over.” The smile could be heard in her tone.

"Well good, it's a deal! I think all of us need someone who cares to give us a little shove in the right direction every now and then. Even if you and I aren't married or whatever, I'd be happy to play with you, and maybe I can introduce you to some other people you might like spending time with too. Having a safe bunch of friends to rely on makes it a lot easier to face your fears and get out more--I can say so from experience."

“Thank you, Trout. That means a lot to me. If I don’t come out of this with a husband, at least I’ll have made some friends. Arguably better.”
