You arrived yesterday and met all of your suite mates. Today is your first day of dates! This morning your phones were all taken from you and will be returned either when you go home or at the start of stage 3! No social media, no contact with the outside world, just a chance for you to focus on your connections with other people here. (You were told this would be the case when you first signed up to be a participant)
The first round of dates will be relatively quick. You'll get a chance to meet all the ladies/gents. The first dates will last about 10-20 minutes (IC) and the purpose is a short little getting to know you.
Here are some topics you might consider talking about (though it's TOTALLY up to you): General lifestyle (partier/works a lot/spends most time at home alone) Occupation Hopes for this event/what you're looking for in a spouse Hobbies/Passions
RULES - Remember to keep physical descriptions out of your conversations. - Each person gets only 10 posts in this thread! - Posts are limited to 150 words! The idea is to give your characters a little taste but leave them wanting MORE!
Will you start to make a connection today? Let's find out!
This date is for Lainey Yurkovich & Trout Latimer!
You enter the pods, one person on each side in a soundproofed room. This allows you to feel totally secluded and private from the other participants who may be near you. This is your chance to get a feel for the women/men who are here and who you might be interested in continuing to get to know!

Lainey entered the pod with as much nervous excitement as one could get given their situation. "Helloooooooo?" She called. "I'm Lainey! It's a pleasure to meet, Hear? Hear you!" She giggled. She flopped on the couch and then would listen to her date introduce himself before she'd ask. "Okay got a serious question for you. Do you like animals?" She asked.

Trout laughed at the drawn out hello. ”Hey, I'm Trout. Nice to meetcha." He heard something from the other side but waited for the question before speaking up again. "I'm game for most animals. Like, dogs, cats, fish, lizards. I dunno if I'd want a bird in my apartment though. What about you? D'you have a favorite?"

"Good Answer!" She laughed. "I have a golden retriever named Dug. He keeps me busy and is great company." She said. "I Like your name Trout, it's unique." She gave him a moment to respond before she moved onto her next question. "What is it that you do?" She asked him.

Trout laughed at the name of the dog and clapped his hands once. "Great choice. And yeah, I've definitely never met another Trout. Mom wanted something really different since her and Dad have "boring" names." He listened to her question then answered, "I work on the app and website for a grocery company. Basically whenever they wanna add new features or have an event page, I put it together."

"Define "boring" name, would Elaine be considered boring?" She asked. She sat up a bit in surprise then at hearing what he did. "Shi-Ope." She covered her mouth quickly and then just laughed it off. "Sorry I tend to be a bit...free with my language. I work mostly at home, So Dug hears most of my swearing. But That is super coooooool!" She said. Her excitement showing through her tone. "I do the same thing pretty much but for companies that want to advertise on social media. I make all their motion graphics and little adds. One of my classes in college was in web development but code....tis not my friend." She told him.

Trout laughed again. No judgment here, I cuss like a sailor when I'm on my own. So, feel free to say whatever. I'd say you took the boring right out of it by making it Lainey. But hey, as a kid I would have given up my birthday cake if it meant that kids'd stop calling me fish face." He sighed, then got himself back on track by answering again. "As far as coding goes, I'd be happy to help out if you need me. I think I'm better at coding languages than English, if I'm being honest." He cracked open a pop and took a sip before posing a question of his own. "What do you do when you're not working, then?"

"Well then shit! That's a relief." She laughed. "Aaawwwww." She couldn't help but say. Feeling for him. "Deal, I'll take you up on that offer, and don't think about changing your mind." She threatened, but it was in a playful tone. "Well when I'm not living in the dungeon, that's what I fondly call basement studio, I try to get out and be as active as possible. A lot of people are surprised to find I'm not a fitness trainer or something else that's super active. But noooooope. I like my motion graphics, taking pictures and living in Adobe After Effects. Dug and I go on many walks. He likes to chase squirrels." She giggled thinking about the last time she'd seen Dug see a squirrel.

"I like your laugh, Lainey!" Trout commented, then added quickly, "Ugh, that sounds weird, but I mean it. Anyway, I think I pretty much would live in the dungeon. I mean, I even play Dungeons and Dragons with my friends every couple of weeks. We're pretty damn geeky. But hey, I promise I don't have a neckbeard, and I won't call you mi'lady like a creeper."

Lainey let a belt of laughter out that turned into a snort. "Not the kind of Dungeon reference I would expect a man to say." She said through a fit of giggles. "If ya know what other kinds of dungeons there are, but Okay! We aren't going there..Yet." She chuckled. "That's good to know about not having a neckbeard, and I've already dated enough creeps so you've scored more points today Trout my man!" She waited a few seconds before adding a cheeky "You Got double points for liking my laugh."

"Hey, I'm gonna remember those points, you gotta know." Trout answered, sounding a bit relieved. "I kinda thought you were gonna think it was dumb. A lot of people expect it to be like, wearing cloaks and like, being crazy, but it's really just me and my friends sitting around with a shitload of pizza and yelling about whether or not the answer to a riddle can be to just break down the door instead." He paused, then added a little quieter, "And I'm not arguing with the other kind of dungeon, just uh, I would probably need a drink first."

"My brother is a nerd, I'm used to it." She giggled. "He'll go on and on and ooooon about his WOW character if you let him or what him and his buddies did in their Friday night campaign." She laughed. "He's a giant dork, but he's my little brother and I love him dearly. So I'm subject to his nerd ramble, and it doesn't phase be one bit." She told him. "Take a drink for the both of us unless your drinking pop. In which case, the Dr. Pepper is all mine." She said sweetly. "Okay, So you're a cute nerd boy, what else is there cute about you Trout? Got any siblings?" She asked.

Uh-um--" Trout sputtered, "I dunno about cute, but uh, yeah. I have two siblings. My brother Kyle--actually, I'll tell you their real names so you know it's not just me my mom got the final say on. Kylar and Annaliese. Mom's Dianna and dad's Joe. So, you can see why she had a complex about it. Her maiden name was even Smith. We're pretty average, like, thing average suburb family with a dog and stuff. Dad is even obsessed with his lawn like everyone jokes about. I've never really understood that though...like why grass? It doesn't even do anything but sit there, and it's not flowers or anything. Sheesh." He paused, then said in a quiet voice, almost to himself, "I think this is the most I've talked in like six months."

Lainey felt her heart warm at hearing Trout talk about his family. "Well, I'm glad I've had the pleasure in getting to talk to you Trout." She told him matter of factly. "And I really mean that." She said, her tone implying that she was sincere. "Alright you ready for this? So...My family. My mom is Irish-Catholic, my Dad is Jewish. Born and raised on the east coast, their families obviously disapproved, so they said fuck it, and moved out west and popped out four kids." She said. "So there is, Johanna, Abigal - We all call her Abby or Abs, Elaine aka yours truly, and funnily enough little bro Lyle." She giggled at the fact they're brothers had matchy names. "My family is...." She trailed off. "Loud." She did a nervous laugh.

Trout laughed at the comment about her family being loud. "Nah, that makes sense. That's a lot of kids in once house, and don't they say that people from the East Coast yell all the time? Like, that's just how they talk?" He paused, trying to think of something else good to ask about. "Do you get along well with your family? Like, do you guys do big holidays together and shit? Or are they more off on their own? I see my parents, like, once a month or so? But I don't do every Sunday at home or anything like that. They've got their hands full with Annie living at home to go to nursing school, so I try to keep to my personal space."

"Aaaah mystery solved! I guess that explains a lot of it." She chuckled. "Yeah growing up it was...loud. I'm pretty close with all my siblings, we kind of had to group together to make it, sooo yeah. They're all my best friends. Lyle is a year younger than me so were the closest I think. Abby and Jo are the same since they're older." She explained. "Dad died about....Six years ago? Mom was a stay at home mom all her life with us kids, so it took some major adjusting. She's better now though. Finally has a grandbaby to put her all her time and effort into." She laughed. "We get together when we can, but I'm a bit of the black sheep." She sighed. "I'm a bit wilder than my sisters, and my mom and I but heads a lot, but we make it work."

Well first off, I'm sorry for your loss, I can't even imagine. I guess my family is pretty chill, comparatively? Like...Mom, Kyle, and Annie were always running all over the place for sports and clubs and stuff, but like, that meant they were never home so it was just me and my computer a lot of the time. I'd call myself the 'black sheep' too just because I'm an introvert and a math geek. Definitely not the wild child, at least not outwardly. In a D&D game, where I get to play someone else? That's another story." He laughed. But hey, now you've got me curious. What makes you the wild child? You seem pretty level headed to me. Like, job, pet, work from home, exercising..."

"Mom took it the hardest. Dad was...Well that's a story for another time." Her tone suggested she didn't want to talk about her dad.
"See, My family is the complete opposite of yours." She laughed. "Abby is a literal rocket scientist, Lyle is a police officer, but he's the largest nerd I know, and Johanna was valedictorian. I was the one barely passing math and chemistry, and dominated in PE. I was also in the principles office a lot because I was rather opinionated." She laughed. "I think the only semi art thing I did, that I actually thoroughly enjoyed was playing the violin. My parents got me into it when I was little, and I just couldn't put it down. Unfortunately, I had to sell good ole Scooter to help pay bills junior year, and I haven't had the time to get another one." She said sadly.

"Aw, that totally sucks. But hey, we're growing up, so that could totally be something you save up for. Get like, a nice violin for yourself. And, side note, your family sounds both crazy awesome and crazy intimidating." He laughed.
So wait, though. You said you didn't do any art in school early on? But don't you do like, all kinds of graphics stuff now? What made you get into that?" he asked curiously. "Because personally, that shit blows my mind. I have no artistic sense whatsoever. Math and patterns come easy to me, but artistic stuff is like, just incomprehensible to me. I can't even pick a good color combination for my outfits.

"I just might have to do that." She said grinning. "Eh, their all bark no bite." She laughed. "Long story." She laughed. "I actually wanted to do something with music, but couldn't afford it. So I decided to just take some classes at the local community college to see where I wanted to go career-wise, and I happened to take a multimedia 101 class. It was love at first sight honestly. Especially when we got to do a picture project." She explained. "Graphics just came next I guess. I like the more technical side if I'm being honest. Like, i'd rather you give me everything I need and then I'll put it together. So I really it when clients already have their logos and I just get to make them move." She laughed. "But I can also make the graphics if I need to."
