You arrived yesterday and met all of your suite mates. Today is your first day of dates! This morning your phones were all taken from you and will be returned either when you go home or at the start of stage 3! No social media, no contact with the outside world, just a chance for you to focus on your connections with other people here. (You were told this would be the case when you first signed up to be a participant)
The first round of dates will be relatively quick. You'll get a chance to meet all the ladies/gents. The first dates will last about 10-20 minutes (IC) and the purpose is a short little getting to know you.
Here are some topics you might consider talking about (though it's TOTALLY up to you): General lifestyle (partier/works a lot/spends most time at home alone) Occupation Hopes for this event/what you're looking for in a spouse Hobbies/Passions
RULES - Remember to keep physical descriptions out of your conversations. - Each person gets only 10 posts in this thread! - Posts are limited to 150 words! The idea is to give your characters a little taste but leave them wanting MORE!
Will you start to make a connection today? Let's find out!
This date is for River Hughes & Blake Carson!
You enter the pods, one person on each side in a soundproofed room. This allows you to feel totally secluded and private from the other participants who may be near you. This is your chance to get a feel for the women/men who are here and who you might be interested in continuing to get to know!

Blake knocked on the door before he pushed it open. "Did someone call for a doctor?!" He called. "I heard there were all these people trying out an experiment, and some of them have a serious case of Nervousconstilitis. Symptoms include: Shaking, butterflies in the stomach, possible stuttering, lack of appetite, anxiety, feeling like ants are in your pants, and very bad introductions like the one I just gave." Blake chuckled. Hoping whoever was on the other side could take a joke, or otherwise he'd just made a fool of himself. But he'd take a being a fool over a stick in the mud any day.

River couldn't help giggling at the crazy introduction. "Okay, that's definitely me." She answered, "I'm River Hughes, and I really hope that Nervous...Nervousconstilitis? I hope it's not terminal because I think I've had it for life. I'm always a little nervous about everything. Are you a doctor, then?"

"Well lucky for you Ms. Hughes I am indeed a doctor, who is well experienced in Nervousconstilitis, and it is very treatable." He chuckled. "Doctor Blake Carson at your service Mi'Lady. You cannot see it, but I am bowing." He said in his best "High brow" British accent. He chuckled and straightened. "Okay jokes aside, Nice to meet you River you can just call me Blake." He laughed. "What is you do?"

"Thank goodness! I was a little worried," River answered with another giggle. "It's nice to meet you though, Blake. I'm a Librarian on a college campus. It's fun helping the students because they get really excited when you help them find what they need for a good assignment. Also, sometimes they fall asleep at the computers, so I send them home with chocolate. What about you? Are you a primary care doctor, or something specialized?"

"I get to send people home in casts and stitches. Some even get to take the good drugs home." He chuckled. "Yeah! So right now, I'm a resident Trauma Doc. Meaning I'm technically a doctor, but I'm still a student as I'm specializing in the area of medicine I want, which is Trauma. Sooo...ER Doc, but I also do surgeries if needed." He explained. "Have you ever seen Grey's Anatomy? I'm Like the type of doc Owen and April are, however, I don't have a military background like Owen does." He chuckled.

"Oh, that's amazing! I don't know if I could keep up with all that, I'd probably panic and do something ridiculous," she confessed. "I haven't watched that show, but I think I have a general idea. What do you do when you're not at work, then? Please tell me that as a doctor you're taking care of yourself and getting enough rest. We may have just met but I might bully you into it anyway if you aren't already. If you help everyone else, you should take care of you, too."

Blake laughed."Thank you for all the concern River, yes, I make sure to take care of myself." He chuckled. "I tend to try and do a lot of relaxing things as I'm constantly going at my job. My main two hobbies are gardening and cooking, and I like to occasionally go out for a hike or something. I ride my longboard sometimes if it's a really nice day." He said. "What is it you like to on your days off?"

Ah, that's a relief. I'm not much of a gardener, I can barely keep houseplants, but I'm an okay cook, I think. I like to make banana bread for my coworkers. But, as far as hobbies, I'm fairly simplistic. I enjoy reading pretty much anything I can get my hands on, and I also love mystery shows. The one I'm in the middle of right now is Father Brown, where an absolutely adorable British priest solves murders in a small town. It's always a good mystery, and it never makes me feel like I can't sleep. She laughed. "Do you like to read at all, Blake? Or is there a kind of show or movie that's your favorite?"

Blake listened to River as she talked. "Banana bread is one of my favorites to make. But I think Zucchini is probably my favorite." He told her. "That actually does sound pretty cute!" He laughed. "I used to watch a lot of Late night MeTV so I'd watch murder she wrote, or M*A*S*H. I think Hogan's Hero's was probably my favorite." He said thinking about it. "I got my fair share of reading in med school." He laughed. "I'm not particularly a big reader, I'll admit it. I can't hold still a lot of the time so I need to be active, so I spend a lot of the time in the garden. I do, however, do Netflix. I'm pretty all over the place, But The Office and Friends are probably my favorite." He said. "Do you have any good recommendations?"

"Ooh, I love Murder She Wrote! I wanted to be Jessica Fletcher so bad when I was younger. She is like, the ideal. Smart, independent, always there with a witty remark... River laughed. "Hmmm...Show wise I definitely recommend Father Brown; I bet you'll like it if you liked Murder She Wrote. Um...The rest of my watch list is either Criminal Minds, Blacklist, or period dramas like North and South. I'm not sure any of those are really your style."

"Heeeeck yeah! JB Fletcher for the win. Not gonna lie, I always wished she could be my grandma, or my really cool aunt." He laughed. "Criminal minds hits a little close to home, or at least a little close to my profession." He grimaced. "Mathew Grey-Gubler though is FANTASTIC. I also really like Garcia's and Morgan's relationships. It's freaking adorable." He said. "Can't say I've seen the others, but I had a ex who was really into period drama's like Reign and The Crown. Don't ask me about them because I've already forgotten." he laughed.

River laughed. "No worries, those ones are a bit too intense for my tastes. Even Criminal Minds I have to watch in small doses! I really prefer things like Murder She Wrote, Father Brown, and Death in Paradise, where everything ends up being alright, and it's not too...dark, I guess? I can see why that would be a bit much when you already deal with a lot of intensity at work too. I can absolutely support things being more relaxed at home. It's meant to be your safe haven, after all..."
"This might be a loaded question, but can I ask what you're looking for in a partner?"

"Yeah, I had it rough as a kid too, so some of that stuff really does hit close to home." He said. "I Once had a foster mom who would only watch the hallmark channel, so all those feel-good hallmark mystery shows would be on when all the Christmas movies weren't playing. I would always sit there and try to figure out who done it before the show ended, or silently beg her to change the channel because we'd be on the third showing of it that day." He laughed.
"So, My dream girl. Imagine this," He changed his tone to match that of trying to wow her. "She's gotta love to eat, funny, cute personality, know what she wants, and needs to want kids because I want however many she'll let me have." He laughed. "Pretty much I'm looking for my best friend."

River giggled. "Sounds pretty good to me! I think out of all of those the one I struggle with is 'knows what she wants.' I'm not like, ambitious. I know I want a best friend, like you said, and I want... I want a home." River sounded like she might cry, and she stopped to take a deep breath.
"Sorry. Um. I guess what I mean is that what I do for work and where isn't as important to me as having a safe place to come home to, where I won't be lonely. So...kids and all that, it sounds nice. Really nice, actually."

"Awe hey, It's okay." He said gently. "I totally understand that. I was in the foster care system, I know all too well what wanting a safe home is like. I want the same thing really. A family. It's something I never had so I really want it. It was part of the reason why I joined the experiment actually, other than wanting to find my best friend." He explained in a gentle tone.
"How many kids do you want River? Also, what's your favorite book?" He asked, trying to lighten the mood.

River sighed.
"Sorry. I know you're trying to keep me moving in a positive direction, but...Well, I feel like it's important to get things out in the open when we only have a short time. So. I don't really have any right to complain. It's just, I'm an only child raised by a single dad, and he was always working. I spent most of my time alone as a kid, reading. So...most of my friends were the characters in books. Dad loved the heck out of me, and he did his best, so it's not like I was ever unsafe, or didn't have my needs met.
"But, um, to answer your question, three kids seems nice, maybe? More would depend on how those ones went. And my favorite book is the Odyssey! I love greek mythology more than anything."

Blank listened patiently as River spoke. "I used to make up stories about how the families in movies were my family. I know that lonely feeling River, I really do." He told her honestly.
"Three is a good number." He said smiling. "Oh nice! I think I read it in highschool? We did like a greek mythology segment or whatever it is in my language arts class, where we read some hero's stories. It was on the hero's journey I think? We had to write our own epic tale, it was fun!" He said. "I think Demeter is my favorite goddess." He said.

"Ooh, good choice! She's an excellent goddess...but she's also a strict parent," River giggled. "I don't know if you know the story of Hades and Persephone? Essentially, Hades took Demeter's daughter to be his wife. Demeter threw a huge fit and killed all the plants--making it winter! She and Hades eventually made a deal to share time between them, six months at a time. So in the spring and summer, Persephone helps her mother with the plants, and in the fall and winter, Demeter still throws a tantrum and we have seasons. There are a lot of beautiful retellings with a great romance between Hades and Persephone..."
"I'm so sorry, I got carried away...Um. Actually. I had a question from before... Do you want to have, like, genetic kids? Or do you want to adopt? I know that's a bit personal, so you don't have to answer."

"I have hard that story, it's a pretty well-known one." He said. "Either or, I'm not picky. I just really want to be a dad, and whether it's to a child that shares my blood, or one that I was able to adopt and to save them from the life I had it doesn't matter to me." He explained.
"Sorry, I'll get a bit sappy here if you let me." He chuckled. "Do you want biological kids, or would you be willing to adopt too? Oh here's another one. Would you ever consider fostering?"
