You arrived yesterday and met all of your suite mates. Today is your first day of dates! This morning your phones were all taken from you and will be returned either when you go home or at the start of stage 3! No social media, no contact with the outside world, just a chance for you to focus on your connections with other people here. (You were told this would be the case when you first signed up to be a participant)
The first round of dates will be relatively quick. You'll get a chance to meet all the ladies/gents. The first dates will last about 10-20 minutes (IC) and the purpose is a short little getting to know you.
Here are some topics you might consider talking about (though it's TOTALLY up to you): General lifestyle (partier/works a lot/spends most time at home alone) Occupation Hopes for this event/what you're looking for in a spouse Hobbies/Passions
RULES - Remember to keep physical descriptions out of your conversations. - Each person gets only 10 posts in this thread! - Posts are limited to 150 words! The idea is to give your characters a little taste but leave them wanting MORE!
Will you start to make a connection today? Let's find out!
This date is for River Hughes & Parker Domino!
You enter the pods, one person on each side in a soundproofed room. This allows you to feel totally secluded and private from the other participants who may be near you. This is your chance to get a feel for the women/men who are here and who you might be interested in continuing to get to know!

"So let's get some really important questions out of the way first. Spicy food or nah?" Parker asked.

River laughed nervously. "Unfortunately I'm a 'nah' kind of girl! My whole face turns red if I eat so much as a hot Cheeto. I do love sour candy, though."

"Well I guess more for me? Don't worry I can eat all the hot cheetos so they don't come near you. I'm high key obsessed with sour gummy worms. The pink and blue ones are the best." Parker said with a laugh, "I'm Parker by the way, travel blogger, history nerd, and protector of those that don't get along with chilies."

"Mmm, definitely the best! I love sour patch kids more than anything, but Trolli gummi worms are pretty high on my list." River answered, and laughed at his comment about protecting her. "I appreciate the protection, I was a little worried I was gonna get crossed off your list for that one. I'm a librarian, so I totally appreciate the history nerd bit. Do you have a favorite time period or country whose history you like?"

"Hey give yourself some credit, we're here to just about the insides of people right? If you're filled with sour patch kids well you must be pretty sweet," Parker joked, "A librarian has the world at her fingertips because books can take you everywhere and to a million lifetimes, I'm sure I stole that saying from some inspirational poster or three. I love the history of old buildings and architecture, that was my other job. Buildings hold a lot of stories in them."
"So after a long day at library, what's the first thing you do when you get home?"

"Hm, if I'm sour then sweet, does that mean you're hot from all the cheetos?" She joked, giggling as she suggested it.
Was it on Reading Rainbow, maybe?" she teased, "Although that's pretty retro, these days. The history of buildings sounds amazing, actually. I've definitely wondered what it would be like to be around when they build the Coliseum or the Notre Dame cathedral. As far as when I get home, I'm usually making dinner and watching Netflix or something. I like mystery shows, like Criminal Minds, or Father Brown. They keep my brain going. If I'm feeling quieter then I make tea and read a book. I'm a pretty boring gal when it comes to nightlife. I don't like being out alone, and I don't love a huge party either. I'd rather have a close small group, or maybe a partner to do things with."

Parker laughed, "Well my mom often tells me I'm very handsome and I don't think she'd lie to me. But unlike Cheetos, I won't make you cry, at least not on purpose." Parker hoped it wasn't too early for a flirty joke. " Mystery shows are my favorite too, though I don't get a whole lot of time to watch tv, actually usually there's just not a tv around me."
"I'm not a huge club person but I don't not like them. Like I'll go out if I that's what my friends are doing or if that's what the locals are doing wherever I am. If I had it my way, I'd be somewhere with a great view doing some yoga with someone awesome to share the memory with.

River giggled at his comment about the Cheetos. So you mentioned that you'd wanna be in a good spot for the yoga. What kind of views are your favorite? Do you get to travel wherever you like best, or does some publication choose for you? She stopped to let him answer but then added at the last minute, Oh, and! Does your significant other get to travel with you?

"It's a little bit of both, I specialize in architecture and old buildings so I have to have good content for my followers and sometimes places invite me and or a sponsor will want something specific, but ultimately I get to choose," Parker said, "and usually those views are from really high up places, I like to se a city or landscape below me and feel like I'm at the top of the world."
Parker grimaced at the most common question he got in the dating world, "More or less, if they want to it's usually not an issue, assuming they have a passport and stuff. I make my own travel plans and often travel with friends." It was obvious that this was something he said often. He sighed. "I really hope I can find someone that just wants to experience the world as much as I do."

Is it super rude if I poke at that a little? You sounded upset, so I'd like to know why. Like...do you want someone to travel with you always? Or do you want some trips to be just you? My job is only during the school year so I get fall and spring break, plus summers, but I'd need to do my own work unless yours paid well enough to cover both of us travelling constantly..." She laughed awkwardly. "I might be pressing too much, but, um, I want to take this seriously. We don't have a lot of time, so I don't want to waste your time if I can't give you what you need."

"Sorry sorry! It's not you I promise!" Parker said quickly, "I- I guess I'm just used to women only caring about that side of me and it distracts from me as a person." Then he slowed down, "I just don't want to only be judged for my job and my background ya know. I want a person who is actually excited to see stuff.I know it's too much to ask someone to like give up their life for mine so I'm not asking anyone for that. Money... it's not a problem for me, if I met the right person she can do whatever she wanted, but of course I want someone that has some sense of wanting to do something or other. I'd love someone that can go explore with me but I know it can get really exhausting." he fumbled.

"Ah, it's nothing to apologize for! I didn't mean to sound too aggressive or anything. I just...I don't want to get into something that's going to make you unhappy, if that makes sense? I'd love to travel and explore. And I feel like, if I were traveling with someone who knows the history, it would be even better. We could study the history before, and then go live in it for a while, and you could tell me all about the architecture, and we could do yoga in the early mornings with tea, and cook breakfast together..." She trailed off dreamily. "But! Um! Ah...I just mean...um...it could be nice, more as something to do together, than just about the places. Gosh, I sound ridiculous, I'm so sorry. I got carried away. I just...Um, I think we'd have a good time."

"Yeah, I really appreciate that. Sorry no it's totally me. Ummm..." Parker hesitated, "So I had my heart broken real bad once, I thought I really loved this girl but really that girl just loved my passport and my house, and stuff that wasn't me ya know. I guess that's why I wanted to be in the experiment, maybe someone could forget about all that stuff." he said, shyly.
"That sounds like a really perfect day, all I want to do all day long is chase stories and then go be in those places and share those stories with the world. There are so many people that don't know this stuff is out there so I want to make it accessible for them, maybe inspire them to try it out too."
"If I got to take on a trip, I think I know exactly where I'd take you."

"I think that's the perfect reason to do all this. Honestly, it's probably a better reason than mine: I'm honestly just terrified of people. Talking like this, where it's all a little surreal...I think it makes it easier for me." She sighed. "I'm genuinely sorry that happened to you. We've hardly met and I can tell you deserve better than that--I mean, anyone does, but...Yeah."
"That's beautiful. The way you want to share the world with people, I mean. It makes me feel...wistful? I'm not sure that's the right word."
A-ah?" She paused and there was a shuffling sound from her side of the wall. "I just realized you can't see me, aah, that's so silly--I definitely just hid my face in the pillow. I'm grinning like an idiot; I'm sorry. But, I really have to know. Where would you want to go?"

"Aww shucks, but why would you hide in the pillow? If you're smiling, you should want to show it off. I wish I could see your smile." Parker said with a light laugh. "Ok so if I could take you anywhere in the world right now, I'd take you to England, but not to London or something. We'd be going to the countryside on a Jane Austen tour. Anyways, she's from Hampshire, we can see her house. I've been to Bath before, and I read listened to the audiobook of Persuasion on the train ride since that's the setting. I'd have to actually research the other places but you get the gist. We'd stay in a historic inn that they would've stayed in, and I'd manage to find a ball or throw one, oh and they do a lot of walking in the countryside too I guess."

"You're going to melt me into a puddle, sheesh." River pouted as he paused after saying he wished he could see her smile.
A muffled squeal is heard from the other side of the glass as River covers her face with the pillow again, then it turns into a laugh.
This isn't fair at all! You're way too good at this--that sounds like an absolute DREAM. I've read all of Jane Austen's work, and I've always wanted to try those dances, where all the flirtation is in the eyes and you barely touch, always just barely brushing past..." She sighed. "But really, Parker, is that something that you'd find interesting too? I wouldn't want you to base the whole thing on me and not get to do anything you enjoyed. Or would the fun part for you be writing about it afterwards?"

"No you can't melt into a puddle, puddles can't smile!" Parker exclaimed. "And come on, of course, I'm actually into it. I'm a self-serving man that really wants to experience the architecture and setup a regency era home, their functions and stuff and that would be totally wicked content for my blog. It's really lame for a single dude to try to throw a ball," he said, trying to play it as casually as possible. "And I'll admit, I've only listened to that one book, but I've seen a couple of the movies on the plane. I should also warn you that I'm a shit dancer and probably couldn't flirt with my eyes which is why I'm glad I'm behind a wall and you can't see me trying."

River laughed. "Alright, I trust you. It really does sounds like it would be exciting, to learn how all that worked. I can only imagine the amount of time and money throwing that big of a party without electricity would be. But not to worry. I also cannot flirt with any part of my body, not even my voice, so we're totally even. And I won't make you read all of the books, but I'd love to watch Pride and Prejudice together beforehand, if we really did go. It's surprisingly funny. And, think of it this way, even if we tripped over our own feet at the ball, at least we'd get to make fools of ourselves together, right? It would be fun."

"Milady, I feel like you've been flirting with me with your voice this entire... like 18 minutes," Parker said teasingly. "I'm pretty thorough with my research so movies and books will probably have to happen, I guess knowing a librarian would be kinda helpful or something," he said with a mischievous giggle. "I'm really more worried I'd step on your foot or knowing how I dance, break a toe or something and I feel like it's unlikely that it would be my toe. I'm not a dress-up or fussy guy so if you're looking for Mr. Darcy, well I'm not that elegant." He paused for a brief moment, "I like to think I can rock a top hat though."
