You arrived yesterday and met all of your suite mates. Today is your first day of dates! This morning your phones were all taken from you and will be returned either when you go home or at the start of stage 3! No social media, no contact with the outside world, just a chance for you to focus on your connections with other people here. (You were told this would be the case when you first signed up to be a participant)
The first round of dates will be relatively quick. You'll get a chance to meet all the ladies/gents. The first dates will last about 10-20 minutes (IC) and the purpose is a short little getting to know you.
Here are some topics you might consider talking about (though it's TOTALLY up to you): General lifestyle (partier/works a lot/spends most time at home alone) Occupation Hopes for this event/what you're looking for in a spouse Hobbies/Passions
RULES - Remember to keep physical descriptions out of your conversations. - Each person gets only 10 posts in this thread! - Posts are limited to 150 words! The idea is to give your characters a little taste but leave them wanting MORE!
Will you start to make a connection today? Let's find out!
This date is for River Hughes & Trout Latimer!
You enter the pods, one person on each side in a soundproofed room. This allows you to feel totally secluded and private from the other participants who may be near you. This is your chance to get a feel for the women/men who are here and who you might be interested in continuing to get to know!

River scoffed in frustration when the soda can she cracked open was as loud as a bomb in the silence of the room. She had wanted to be quiet and let the man speak first, but now it was too late.
"Um, hi. I'm River. What's your name, and do you have a favorite book?"

Trout nearly choked on his drink. "Hey River, I'm Trout. I think most guys would probably make a joke here but uh, I'll save you the stress. I don't read a whole lot, but I liked the Percy Jackson books when I was in school. Does that still count?"

River laughed at his joke about not making a joke. "Oh gosh, our parents would have a field day, I bet. But yes! Those books absolutely count. I think people should be able to read whatever they enjoy, regardless of age or gender. Personally, I really like the old epics, like The Odyssey."

"That's pretty intense. I didn't do so hot in high school English because the minute they told me to read something I just...checked the hell out. I like the movie, Troy, for the Odyssey, though, and I like other movies about like, gladiators and greek gods and stuff." Trout hesitated, "Do you like video games at all? Or mainly books?"

"Mainly books, but I do like Animal Crossing. I got the new one, and my island is very cute. I put my friend code up on the library desk, so students can visit my island and trade me their fruits and things. It's been nice." River answered. "That kind of thing is about my speed. I'm not great at competitive stuff."

"Hey, that's fine, I getcha. I like high action stuff because I've got a short attention span, but I can see the appeal of something more chill. Sometimes you just need a break. Although, uh, when I need to relax I tend to go grind for levels or work on coding projects, so, I guess that's not relaxing for most people."

"Yeah, definitely not! I can't even imagine trying to learn code. For me, relaxing is a good book and some hot tea. Or maybe a sappy romantic movie if I'm having a reeeeeally bad day. But that's not too often. I do like mystery shows, though, that's a bit more action. Like, Criminal Minds and things like that."

"That's cool. I liked NCIS for a bit, but it's been going on forever, and my favorite person quit. So it's not all that worth it anymore. I mean, Abby was the best part of the show, right?" Trout replied.

"Mhm, definitely. Although I really liked McGee too. He's such a sweetheart, I always was rooting for him no matter what was going on. I like that kind of character, with a good heart. But Tony was good too, even though he was more of a flirt." She paused, hummed a little to herself, then asked, "Who would you say you're most like, on the show?"

Oops, is it tacky if I say McGee, after you said he's your favorite? I'm definitely a McGeek, like Tony called him. I love video games and computers. Definitely not a mystery writer though.

River laughed. "Nah, that sounded like an honest answer to me. I think I'm more a Kate type. Very perfectionistic, type A, rule follower. I'd like to think I'm not as competitive, though."

"Hey, as long as neither of us is Gibbs I think we're doing pretty good. Uh...Let's see, librarian, books... What else. Hmm. How do you feel about chocolate? This is a non negotiable for anyone I date."

"Ooh, I can't imagine not liking chocolate. That would be such a sad life....Can you imagine not enjoying warm brownies?" River made a little 'eek' noise. "The only foods I really don't like are spicy foods and anchovies...and of course that's what my dad likes on all his pizzas. I always had to get a little personal pan pizza as a kid so that mine wouldn't touch his smelly fish pizza."

Trout laughed. "Hey, totally fair. Anchovies are pretty terrible. For my dad it's always those yellow banana peppers. No one else in my family will eat them, so he gets them all over his pizza to make sure no one else steals it. You can't pick them off to get rid of them either because they infect the whole thing with that vinegar taste."

"Ok, so no yellow peppers. Anything else you can't stand in a relationship?" River asked pointedly.

Trout swallowed hard. "Um. Well, I'm definitely not the right fit for a fashionista type, so I try to avoid that. I'd like to find someone I share interests with, whether that's games, or movies, or D&D, or whatever. Um...I think the person you marry should be someone you actually want to spend your time with. That whole ball and chain bit drives me crazy."

"I definitely agree, River answered slowly. "I think you and I could be friends, but I don't know if we're really a fit for a serious relationship? I'm so sorry, I just am not at all interested in playing the type of games you like, and I don't know a thing about computers, and since you don't like reading at all, and it sounds like you prefer action-ish movies and shows...I just don't know what we'd do together. I'm sorry!"

"Hey, nah, nothing to be sorry for! I was kinda feeling it too, but you're super nice and I didn't wanna make any assumptions, I guess. Anyhow, I think you're definitely going to like some of the other guys. Uh, I'll give my recommendation to Penn, because he went straight for the oreos when we met." He chuckled. "Good luck, River!"
