First dates have been completed and they went well for some people and not so well for others. You submitted your list to The Producers of the top 4-5 people that you wanted to see again and The Producers organized dates as accordingly as they could. If there was someone you missed out on, there will be chances in the future.
The second round of dates will be twice as long as the first. You will have 4-5 dates total this round. For the second dates you are given full freedom to use your creative/romantic juices! If you want to provide food for your date, or a game, or basically anything you can think of then please free to do so, The Producers will provide what you need! The only rules are that you have to stay in your own pods. No seeing each other, no touching. So have at it and have fun!
RULES - Remember to keep physical descriptions out of your conversations. - Each person gets only 20 posts in this thread! - Posts are limited to 300 words!
Will your connections grow stronger today or will you cross another name off your list of possibilities? !
This date is for Percy West & River Hughes!
What did you do to make this date special? Anything?

Percy's mind had been spinning all of the last night, everyone was planning all these crazy ideas for dates and he just couldn't really think of anything as crazy and was pretty sure the producers weren't going to let him go fetch his cats. So yeah, he was nervous about pretty much everything that day, but he was going to take it one step at a time. All he had to present was himself, just a man and his violin. "Hey River, I have no idea what the Song of Achilles would sound like, but I do know the Harry potter theme song so I practiced that a little bit in an empty pod last night." he said with a shy chuckle. "I also take requests, I guess." He started playing the Hedwig's theme from Harry Potter, one of his favorites.

River laughed at his comment and listened quietly to the song, although he might hear her hum along a few parts of the song. Once he was finished, she applauded gently.
"That's amazing! And it's funny you mentioned Song of Achilles--that was almost the book I picked for you. But I decided that something with a violin player might suit better."
If Percy looked at the side table, he'd notice a volume of Sherlock Holmes stories that had been placed there at her request.
"It's definitely not as exciting as a personal concert! But books are kind of my thing." She explained with a little laugh.

"Why thank you, I think I might be better at communicating with music than conversation," Percy said with a laugh. He put the violin back in it's open case, but didn't bother to close it.
"Thanks River, this looks awesome! Though, you're going to have to enlighten me about the relationship between Sherlock Holmes and violins, I haven't read the books or seen the movies," Percy said, "Though I do love some good British movies. My mum's an Aussie so for some reason we understand British humor."

"Oh! Sherlock plays the violin! He plays whenever he's mulling over a deep problem. Even though he knows some famous songs, he tends to play music of his own composition, with a mood based on whatever he's thinking about at the time. It made me think of what you were saying, about how no matter what you're playing, the playing is for you. So, I thought it was a good match. I don't know if you like detective stories, so you don't have to read it, of course! I just wanted to do something that was a little more personal, if that makes sense?"
She sighed. "This whole thing is...a lot, honestly. So I have no idea if I'm doing a good job as a date or not. I don't really have a ton of practice...."

"Oh does he? I haven't even read the book yet but now I have to and I already think Mr. Holmes is pretty high on my list of favorite characters," Percy said with a cheerful laugh. "I'll have to start playing my inner thoughts out I guess, it sounds like a pretty solid idea."
Percy chuckled again, "You're the worried one? I thought I was the nervous one! I think you're doing a great job dating, but also I'm not the most experienced person for an opinion on that. But what really matters is that I really like talking to you. I mean, I've had a couple short relationships but nothing serious before. I never really had to plan dates or anything, just met up with them after class or work or whatever."

River laughed. "Same here. I've gone out for drinks with someone like...twice since graduating, and I think that's the only time I saw someone off-campus. But um, I agree! I've been having a lot of fun. More than I expected."
"I think we spent most of our last time talking books, cats, and music...so would you be up for some more serious stuff this time? Like, um, what you think about kids, and what you want in a relationship and stuff?" She hesitated, then giggled. "I guess that doesn't help much with both of us being nervous, huh? We've got a time limit and a whole bunch of pressure, but there's just so much to know."

"Yeah right after the whole dropping out of college thing I just went back to working. I worked on my music a ton. I think I've been on a couple first dates with like my sisters' friends or something, but like drinks after we leave the studio type stuff," Percy said. "Wow I guess I really don't get out much..."
"Hey if we're nervous, we can take stuff one step at a time. If we run out of time, we'll just have another date," Percy reassured her. "I'd rather take the time to really get to know you than rush and miss an important part."
"So kids, I think I'd want someone if my wife wants them. I mean I like kids and all, but also if my wife doesn't want them, I'd be ok with that too as long as we make that decision together. I've got cats to care for and I like to care of things," Percy said, "Kids haven't really been on my mind that much, but neither has marriage until recently. Ummm, I have a house already and I work from home a lot. I really want someone I can just be my weird self with and a good mother to my furry children.

River giggled. "I'm definitely not in a hurry, so that's fine by me. I would happily be a cat mom for a while. But, I do want at least one child, I think."
"Is your sister older or younger? It sounds like you guys are pretty close, huh? I always thought it would be nice to have a sibling to play with when I was younger."

"Even if there's seven of them? Well I guess it would be eight with Hades. I'll warn you they're a handful sometimes but it would be great to have some help," Percy said with a chuckle. "I actually have three sisters and I'm the middle child. Two of my sisters are older than me and one is younger. My whole family is super closer almost to the point of ridiculousness sometimes. Like we literally all work together at the family business, including my brother in law and grandma."
"It sounds like you're an only child?"

"Yeah, that's fine by me! As long as we clean up after them so the whole place doesn't smell like ammonia, then I don't mind. I love having cats around. I don't know, should I be more worried about that? I feel like, if you're able to keep track of them on your own already, it would only be easier with a second set of hands."
River was quiet for a moment after his question, then laughed. "Sorry, I nodded, then realized that was dumb. Yeah, it was just me and dad growing up. That's why I was such a book worm--I didn't really have anyone to play with or talk to. I guess you could say I followed the family business too, in some ways--Dad's an English teacher at a local high school, and now I'm a librarian. He definitely passed his love of reading on to me. I think that's part of why I like the Odyssey too; we read it together when I was younger and he used to do voices for the different characters."
"It's sweet that you and your sisters are close! And if you're part of the family business, then I guess that means they're all musicians too, huh? What a talented group!"

"I totally do that all the time. I talk with my hands a lot and I keep forgetting you can't see my gestures. Learning curves!" Percy said with a laugh.
"I have a lot of litter boxes, most are automatic but they still have to be cleaned every couple days. Two of them actually go outside, like dogs. They have this little bell by the door that they ring." "Yeah my grandparents on my dad's side are musicians, and so are both my parents," Percy said, "My mum's a pianist, she's from Australia and met my dad in New York while she was on tour. Apparently they had been fans of each other before."
"I've never been to Australia, but my mum used to read us what she called "the great Australian novels" because she thought we should hear them in the accent they were written in," Percy said, laughing at the memory. "Did you know that The Book Thief is by an Aussie?"

"Aw, what a cute story! I bet they're an absolutely lovely couple."
"I think your mom sounds like a woman I could definitely get along with! The oral tradition of storytelling has a much longer history than written works--and I'm always excited to hear about parents reading with their children. I didn't know that The Book Theif was Australian, though, which is kind of amazing considering the number of random book facts that I know." She giggled.
"Do you think they'd mind having an addition to the family who's definitely not musically talented? I may like singing along with my favorites in the kitchen, but I'm definitely not a professional."

"That's my family for you," Percy said, "I think they're all determined to make life look like it came out of a movie as much as possible, no matter how cheesey it gets. They are totally the type to make us all wear matching sweaters for Christmas, pets included, and my dad still dresses up as the Easter bunny every year."
"Well my sister married a lawyer who loves karaoke and my aunt married a police officer who doesn't love karaoke, so I think you'll be fine, as long as you can handle the amount of noise" Percy said with a chuckle.
"Does your family have any weird traditions?"

River giggled. "It sounds cute...but also like a lot of pressure. Are they mad if they don't get everything perfect? Or are they really having a good time?" She asked, curious.
"As far as traditions...not really? Dad and I will put on like, Bing Crosby and decorate the tree together the weekend after Thanksgiving, but that's probably the biggest thing. We have dinner with his parents on Christmas day...Oh, and on my birthday we always make banana bread for breakfast. That one's a rule."

"Banana bread, noted, do you have special birthday recipe?" Percy said. "That sounds super cute, also I commend you for getting Christmas decorations up in just one day."
"You know... that's a really good question," Percy said thoughtfully."I'm pretty sure they have fun with it, but I think half the fun for some of them is all the drama of it all and trying to be perfect. My sister's wedding was a very... exhausting time. She married an Indian guy so they did a traditional Indian wedding AND an American one and the whole thing took a whole week. Thankfully for most of it my job was to show up at the right time with the right outfit and sometimes the right musical instrument. Christmas is usually in Tennessee where my parents live, the whole family comes over, cousins and all. At least twice when we were kids, my dad showed up with a reindeer."
"I'm almost relieved that if I get married on this show that that guarantees one that's quick enough to be filmed in a day," Percy said with a laugh. "I think that's as low key as I can ask for."

River giggled. "It's not hard. We have a fake tree because dad hates cleaning up the real ones--even though I've always wanted one--so it only takes like, twenty minutes to put the pieces of that together, and then we do lights, and ornaments, and sometimes I'll string popcorn if I'm feeling up to it. We've never really done anything super big. It's very relaxed, just whatever we're feeling up to. Sometimes we watch the Charlie Brown Christmas special."
"Well, all I can do is assure you that my entire life is low key...except maybe my anxiety. That part's high key. The highest key." She laughed a little. "Your sister's wedding sounds terrifying! I can't even imagine taking a whole week for mine. Honestly...I've never understood people who plan their whole wedding before they even meet someone. It's never been about the ceremony for me; I'll be perfectly happy with something small. I wouldn't turn down a pretty dress, obviously, but I don't want anything over the top in the first place. It's way more about seeing someone waiting for me at the end of the aisle, and just wanting to cry because I'm so happy. That's the dream." She sighed.
"I guess that's pretty sappy, huh? Wanting a storybook ending...or maybe a storybook beginning?"

Percy laughed, "I'm not sure i've ever seen a fake Christmas tree outside of a store. There's a lot of tree farms in Tennessee so every year we take a trip to go pick one out as a family after Thanksgiving, matching sweaters and hats and all that. Whoever finds the best tree gets to put the star on top. My mom makes a whole day out of it with a picnic and hot apple cider. So now when we all go home for Thanksgiving, Mom will get all worked up if we try to leave before she's done with her tree. And I think her idea of cookie baking is it's own holiday."
"I think you're on to something there, we always hear about storybook endings but beginnings sound way better, because then the fairytale never ends," Percy said. "I'd probably just go with whatever my wife wants for wedding planning, though I've got quite a lot of extended family and my mom is the type that likes to fuss over stuff like that."
"I guess that ladies like to do the dress shopping thing, my sister also had like party or three for all that. It just sounds like a lot of work for just one day, or one week," Percy said.

"That sounds a bit intimidating, I have to say," River confessed, "I'd just be worried I was going to mess up everything the whole time. But I guess I just don't have any practice with that kind of big family, cute Christmas card stuff. I've always been more laid back...but I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing, exactly. Do you want to be like that, when you're older? Be the one hosting the Christmas tree hunts and picnics and matchy sweaters?"
River couldn't help groaning at his sister's wedding events again. "That's just too much! It sounds like it would give me a panic attack, not be the best day of my life."

"Don't worry, I think it's just my mom that feels like she has to do everything perfect. See, she's actually from Australia and she's really fascinated with American holidays and she's always been the type to be all in." Percy said reassuringly. "As long as I show up and participate I'm in the clear."
"I know my family can be a lot and a little extreme sometimes, but they've also had 28 years of dealing with my much more introverted self. I just kinda let them do their thing and show up. I don't think I'd do any of that stuff on my own, but I'm sure that at least one of my sisters will be enforcing it." He said, grimacing at the thought of how one of his sisters might even take it to a new level. "My sister with the crazy wedding, Roxy... she's a lot. It's a little scary sometimes," Percy said with a laugh. "But she's still really great."
